As we reach the end of 2011, I think it's only right that I spend some time looking back at how The Garrison has done over the past year. The CataclysmWhile Cataclysm actually came out towards the end of 2010, we didn't really have that much time to play it that year, as as such all of TGs achievements have come during 2011. I've really enjoyed the revamped world and the new zones, as I think they've bought the game forwards filling in blank spots in the map and smoothing out some of the dead zones around the world. The content also seems well balanced between PvE and PvP, with the new world catering to both. RaidingWe are on the fourth and final raid of Cataclysm with Blackwing Descent, Bastion of Twilight and Firelands all falling to The Garrison raiders. The Garrison has kept four raiding teams going throughout the year. Fluffy have been pushing for 1st Alliance ranking on Dunemaul, while Grumpy and Don's Johnson's have kept a healthy competition going between them. The Muffins have also been progressing through content, providing a much more casual form of raiding in keeping with TGs inclusive ethos. | Team Fluffy

The next goal for all teams will be completion of Dragon Soul, and hopefully some time on heroic modes. I can see it being a while until Mists of Pandaria is released, so there should be plenty of time for a good go at completing it. PvPBeing a raider, I don't spend much time covering PvP on the front page, but I feel that I should make sure that everyone knows we have some excellent PvP players in the guild. Covering both battlegrounds and arena, we have teams like NubCorn, Languages and Toothless Fairies taking the fight to the Horde. Hopefully in 2012, I can cover a bit more of their action on the frontpage, as we can look forward to higher ranks and more victories. AchievementsThe Garrison was the number 1 ranked guild for achievements on Dunemaul for a time, helped by people taking time to run guild instances at record pace. We also reached guild level 25 in rapid time, but like a lot of guilds on Dunemaul missed out on getting there first by some creative Blizzard accounting on the first day. I would also be remiss for not mentioning the somewhat insane amount of time some people have spent in 2012 getting personal points to new highs. PlayersUltimately, The Garrison is made up of people who enjoy playing the game together. Over the past year we've seen a few long standing members leave for various reasons, but we've also been able to welcome a lot of new players to the guild. It's been good to seen TG continuing to grow, although in a much different form to the previous 25 man raiding guild from TBC and WotLK. Change is always difficult, but it's been great to see the new people getting on so well, and a lot of people working together in all content to help continue making TG a successful guild. The FutureThe next year will probably bring a new expansion, which will hopefully continue to provide new challenges for all players in The Garrison. There are also a number of new games available, SWTOR and GW2 in particular, where hopefully new TG communities can be established. We will undoubtedly lose players as they find other things to do with their time, but will always be welcome on the forums or in game to let us know how they are doing. I'm sure will we also find new people who fit into the TG community and become invaluable parts of our online experience. The Garrison. Who said we were old? |
