The Garrison has four ten man raiding teams making their through the content at a variety of paces, this a report on their progress. I should also point out that I've been rather slack in updating the front page, so there's a lot of progress that's been missed. Apologies to all involved, but I am a very lazy druid. Don's Johnson'sAs you may have noticed the Don's have been having a few problems getting a raid together with holiday's, sunny weather and families taking up an unreasonable amount of everyone's time. Fortunately people now have their priorties right and are spending longer sat in a darkened room killing things in Firelands. To that end the Johnson's have killed the first few bosses and in no particular order. Shannox
Beth'tilac
Lord Rhyolith
Cho'Gall (although I'm not sure what he was doing in Firelands)
The MuffinsIn the last few weeks The Muffins have finished off the Bastion of Twilight killing all four bosses in a short space of time. Unfortunately there's a lack of photographic evidence again, this week confiscated by Stormwind PD as evidence in a three-and-a-half homicides case (one Night Elf, two Dwarves, five Gnomes and most of a Goblin, do the maths. Instead we have a lovely picture of Halfus is available as proof that the Muffins really were in the instance.
Team GrumpyGrumpy and The Johnson's are currently tied in Firelands, as Grumpy also cleared out the spider and the slag heap. Rhyolith was apparently the last try of the evening, which follows a long standing tradition of 2355 Garrison kills. Apparently lack of sleep causes a zen like meditative state where everything appears to hit for less, heal for more and fall over at the slightest push. The same state can be bought on by drinking six pints in the mid-afternoon.

Team FluffyFinally we arrive at Team Fluffy who have all ended up with singed fur in the Firelands. Despite this Fluffy eventually killed Ragnaros after getting stuck far too many times on phase 2. Phase 2 took approximately 40 wipes to get correct, while it was after only 4 tries on phase 3 did the Firelord himself retreat back into his domain. Not content with letting Ragnaros run away like a little girl, Fluffy then started on heroic Firelands killing Shannox on slightly harder mode. This means The Garrison is the only Alliance guild on Dunemaul to have made a heroic Firelands kill.

Firstly, welcome to The Old Garrison. You have joined what I believe to be one of the finest guilds in WOW. We have a very diverse range of members from all walks of life and a wide range of countries ranging from Ireland to the Ukraine. We pride ourselves on helping each other and offering advice whenever needed, so do not be afraid to ask. I would be grateful if every new joiner reads the Guild Looting rules which are on this site; getting it wrong in an instance run causes a lot of ill-feeling and reading the rules only takes about 5 minutes of your time. We also make great use of an add-on called Guild Event Manager (or GEM) which is our planning calendar, and you should download this add-on as well if you want to be fully involved in Guild Activities. Another favourite for a lot of the members is the use of an Add-On called CTRaid which is a godsend in a busy instance when you are trying to heal, buff or decurse - or just know who is the Main Tank. Finally, as you do more hi-level instances, you will find that most players use TeamSpeak which allows you to chat to the other players and reduces the amount of typing required. It has a dramatic effect on efficiency and you really should get it if you want to take part in regular runs. In sum, have fun; make the most of the experience around you and never be afraid to ask for help or advice. If you have any questions or anything is worrying you, then whisper me or any of the officers and we will try to help. |

The Garrison has four ten man raid teams. This is a quick update of how they are doing. Team FluffyMore kills in Firelands for Fluffy as Baelroc, Alysrazor and Majordomo Staghelm were killed. The changes to Rhyolith have been an improvement, but it is still a bit RNG for consistent one shots. The new Domo proved much easier than many of the other bosses, the kill coming after seven attempts with a 1% wipe after four. Fluffy also spent a day on Ragnaros with 40% and the second transition phase being the best attempts. Overall I'm slightly disappointed by Firelands as it's not the same step up that was seen in either TBC or WotLK between the first two tiers. Heroics are on the horizon though for Fluffy who hope to kill Ragnaros this week.

The MuffinsIn the last couple of weeks The Muffins finished off Nefarian in the previous content tier. As with some of the previous kills, no screenshot is available due to gratuitous gnome based nudity. Don's Johnson's & Team GrumpyThe last two teams have either not killed anything in Firelands, or kept it very quiet. Personally I think it's the latter due to the shy and retiring nature of many of those in TG. The Garrison. Who said we were old? |

The Garrison has four teams slowly working their way through end game content. This is an update of their progress. Team FluffyFluffy took down three bosses in Firelands; Shannox, Rhyolith and Beth'tilac. Beth'tilac was surprisingly easy, while Rhyolith should be much easier now the turning and volcano hotfixes are in. Fluffy also had some good attempts on Baelroc, with the rotation sorted by the end of the night and another hour or so would have seen him bite the dust as well. With guilds already clearing Firelands on Normal, Fluffy want to try and consolidate and move forward what appears to be quite an easy normal instance.

Team GrumpyDespite complaints that it was too hot, dusty and full of things trying to kill them, the Grumpiest member of The Garrison also ventured into Firelands last week. Shannox went down like just like some giant salamander which was co-incidental as Shannox is in fact a giant salamander. "They don't make raids like they did in my day." was Team Grumpy's response.
The MuffinsProving that it's not all about the current tier, The Muffins killed Chimearon in the last week before Firelands was released and have subsequently taken Atramendes. The screenshot for the last kill was unfortunately shredded along with a large amount of incriminating evidence of gold laundering through the guild bank. Getting somewhat ambitious, The Muffins have also attempted Shannox in Firelands, whilst continuing to clear the previous tier. The Muffins who only raid once a week on a Saturday evening, have maintained reasonable progress on nights that they have a full raid. They hope that with 359 gear now available for JP, more people will be in a position to come along for a spot of more casual and moist raiding.
Don's Johnson'sGetting into the summer holidays have left the Johnson's short a few members for the first week in Firelands. With a bit of luck the nice weather will disappear leaving people no option but to play WoW while in pours down all summer long! The Garrison. Who said we were old? |
