The Summer Garrison
Written by Rudrig

The summer is here for The Garrison. With all the heat pouring from the sky and the dreaded "real life" hitting our rosters, there have been few changes regarding The Most Awesome Raiding Teams (tm)

Roster merge! - no more we are divided. With less and less people being able to commit to a weekly raiding schedule, both teams decided to start joint raiding just in time for Hellfire Citadel to open. Newly formed The Garrison raiding team is still figuring roster but in the mean time, TG managed to get itself to 4/13 with no showing of stopping there.

Summer schedule! - currently we dialed down or raiding days to only raiding one day a week - Thursday. With Summer and BRF burnout, this is the time to recharge and take it a bit slower and so for now we are raiding on Thursdays only.

Recruitment! - with new raid instance opened and new team formed out of The Garrison raiders, we would very much like to welcome more people our roster - be it as a social member, a raider or one of them PvP people. If you are interested, just contact any member of TG or simply click this link

The Garrison - who said we were old?

The Garrison has a one team of equally brave and crazy raiders, doing normal and heroic content, two nights per week. This is the recap of their current progress. After going 3/7HC TG didn't stop and our raiding team plowed through rest of the bosses - disposing them left and right to finally arrive in front of Xavius himself. Setting aside a whole raid night to progress on the boss proved to be a bit too much as the team needed little under an hour to get the kill and clear The Emerald Nightmare on heroic difficulty.

This was a very interesting progression - getting used to both new content, new expansion and freshly created, new raiding team. Everyone involved worked hard and the "Ahead of the Curve" achievements are the proof of that. Well done to everyone. Well deserved kill. Now - Trial of Valor awaits. (Oh, and we are recruiting - check this for more info

The Garrison needs you!

If you are interested in joining one of the oldest and most respected guilds on Dunemaul, to be part of our community, to adventure and raid in a mature environment, or just hang out with a great bunch of guys: now could be the time to make an application to The Garrison.

We welcome applications from all classes and levels of play. We have raid vacancies in many classes and we may have a raiding spot open for you if you meet the approval of the respective class officer. Even if you are not selected for the roster, well geared players with the right attitude will have opportunities to raid as a reserve until a slot becomes available for your class.

The Garrison prides itself on its community and the quality of its players, all applications are voted on by the membership before we even look at your gear! We are a mature group and are looking for applications over the age of 25, although we will look at exceptional applications from any adult.

Currently we are especially interested in hearing from

  • DPS Warriors
  • Rogues
  • Priests
  • Warlocks

If you are interested, drop by our forums and make out an application. http://www.thegarrison.eu

Musings from the Patio
Tuesday, 18 April 2006 10:05

So, I'm sat here in Greece.

The sun is shining (just) and I'm lounging on the patio, with a laptop on my knees and two dogs lying faithfully by my side, their heads following the toast in my hand.  I'm wirelessly connected to my parents network, and hooked up to the internet via dial-up.

I remember this dial-up thing.  Its pretty slow, but still useable.  Even the webcam seems to work pretty well over it (although a bit stuttery).

So, I've logged on, checked the forums. I also checked the DKP site (bah, the bloody leaf HAD to drop last night, eh!).  I'm now wondering what I'll do for the rest of the day.

I've shipped my daughter off to her friends house.  Quite handily, there is another English family that live in the same village as my parents, with a daughter who is exactly the same age as mine.  Every time I bring my daughter here, the pair become inseperable and roam the streets of the village getting up to much mischief.  They both enjoy each other's company, and its good to see Keeley off the computer for a while.  Perhaps I should follow her lead?  Hahahahahahahahaa...... hrmm..

Preparations for the Greek Easter celebrations are well under way - the whole village has been whitewashed, the fireworks have been prepared, and there is allegedly 11 kilos of high-explosive safely stored in a pile on someone's garden.  The pigs have been cleaned, the goats are being distracted from the sharpening of knives and the chicken feed has been upped considerably.  Should be a great feast ;)

So, with all this relaxing to do, my mind wanders back to The Garrison.  We've had a turbulent few weeks, but it looks like we've come out on top.  There was a quick Officers meeting just before I left, and everyone seemed to be happy with how we're handling things.

In the near future, I would hope that we get two Molten Core runs going per week.  This is our immediate short-term goal.  Of course, in the longer term we have more in mind.  Particularly we would like to see Blackwing Lair become a reality.  As soon as we can comfortably clear MC in one day (Sunday) that frees up Monday for our first few serious forays into Blackwing Lair.

Additionally, AQ20 and ZG still need work.  Cauthon and Tane have the strategies for AQ20 boss 2 worked out.  Doubleuk ran through there with GoF and saw how they did it.  I've been through there with Ashes and seen how they do it.  Between us, we should be able to crack the second boss and move forwards.

In Zul'Gurub, it appears to be the Panther boss that is currently the only block between us and Hakkar.  Lets organise a few more wipe-fests in there, to crack her like the annoying cat she is, and move onto Hakkar and down his ass.

In addition, Sgtginger should be gearing up to organise some regular PVP sessions so we can show the Horde exactly who The Garrison are.

So guys (and gals), Have a GREAT time while I'm away - I'll be around on the forums of course.  Don't do anything I wouldn't do, (so, you're all pretty clear there) and above all - play nicely.

Pharazon

While it has been a while since the last update, It doesn’t mean The Garrison was slacking. On the contrary! Ever since the Dreanor raids opened we have beed progressing steadily through bosses on both normal and heroic difficulties.

From the first week of raiding Team Grumpy and Grimms joined forces and with extended roster started plowing through bosses. Team Fluffy went is as well and TG had all their raiders progressing. After quickly going for 6/7 normal it was time for heroic bosses. While some of the easier ones died during normal progression, the hardest ones had to be tackled later on.

In the mean time Team Grumpy went back to raiding only with their roster scoring guild first Imperator normal kill (with accompanying guild achievement) While Grimms and Team Fluffy started to raid together eventually getting Imperator on heroic mode and getting a nice set of “Ahead of the Curve…” achievements.

As soon as the Blackrock Foundry opened, both teams went in right ahead. After three weeks spent inside, Team Grumpy is currently 9/10 normal and is progressing on Blackhand himself. In the same time Fluffy and Grimm merger did forgo their normal progression after 7/10 and tackled entry heroic bosses resulting in a 3/10 heroic progression.
