The Legion Recruiting Garrison
Written by Rudrig

The Garrison is recruiting! We, as always, are looking for mature players to fill in our ranks. We are equally interested in social and raiding candidates. If you are interested in joining us - head over to the recruitment part of our forum, read up on our guild charter and fill in our application form.

The Garrison is a guild with a long history going back all the way to vanilla WoW. We started as a part of The Older Gamers network under the name "The Old Garrison" on Dunemaul-EU, but as the guild grew we broke free from TOG and continued on as - "The Garrison".

Over time the Dunemaul-EU server started to dry out and in 2012 we migrated over to Aggramar-EU to become part of a more active server community. This is where we have remained since then and where we will continue our journey in Legion.
Our members are mature and as a rule we rarely let anyone in that is not 25 or older. Members have families and real life commitments which takes precedense over playing a game and we expect everyone to accept and understand that.
Since last summer the guild has been in a bit of a hibernation state, but we now working on getting the guild going again for Legion.

Our plans for Legion:
  • Weekly raiding 2 days a week. Usually lasting between 20-23 game time. Current goal is to beat the game content while it is relevant on the heroic difficulty.
  • Mythic dungeon runs most evenings.
  • Opportunities to level up and do world quests in guild groups.
  • PvP groups if we can get enough people interested in that.

What we want to offer you:
  • Welcoming guild for both veterans and inexperienced players.
  • A gaming experience where we help eachother reach our gaming goals - be it PvE or PvP.
  • A mature environment where all understand that real life commitments have priority over game activities.
  • A stable guild that has been around for a long time.
  • Guild leadership that just won't quit - guild is managed by oldschool vanilla players

What we are looking for:
  • Maturity - Above all else, members join to play with people like them. We are a mature guild and would expect everyone to behave as such.
  • Respect – We see a sign of maturity as respect for those in and out of the guild. This could mean dedication to playing your class to the best of your possibilities or saying “thanks” after a successful 5 man.
  • Assistance – A guild only works if everyone pulls together, so helping out other members at quests, gearing, advice and other matters is important. Remember that you get out what you put in!

The Nightholdish Garrison

The Garrison has been busy. With a new raid instance being launched our roster got to new highs finally breaking the mythical (get it? right...) number of 20. And so after gates of Nighthold opened we rushed in to see what was the whole fuss about. In the first night we managed to clear 6 bosses on normal with only Star Augur giving any kind of trouble and the second night got us at 9/10 bosses down with some solid tries on Gul'dan. As always with such long instances, time was the biggest obstacle.

With a new lockout first night was a very well executed farm night, getting the team to Gul'dan again (with a lovely one shot of a bit problematic Grand Magistrix). Second night was all about Gul'dan. He did however died within an hour and on the 5th pull of the evening. So with some time to spare we turned our sights to heroic modes with Skorpyron going down fast. Last hour was spend on Anaomaly with boss hitting the enrage timer and raiders confident enough it will die fast enough next time. All in all very nice two weeks of raiding.

Oh right, and we cleared Trial of Valor heroic before that, so that's nice...

General Raiding Update
Tuesday, 12 June 2007 12:55

It's been a while since I mused on the website, and I thought it was about time to remind everyone about The Garrison.

I cast my mind back to just over two years ago.  I was quietly levelling my Night Elf Hunter, wondering what this "Guild" nonsense was all about when I decided to check out our unofficial realm forums and I happened upon this post.

At the time, I considered myself to be of "the older generation" and decided that these guys would be worth a shot, so I made an application, got accepted, and thus started my life proper in World of Warcraft.

It's now two years later.  I took on the mantle of Guild Leader in February 2006, and handed said mantle over to Cauthon in April 2007.  In that time, we've seen people join us and people leave us, and the list of accomplishments that The Garrison have undertaken is still growing.

I can still remember the cheers on Teamspeak when we finally got that dastardly Lucifron down.  Although our progress was (and still is not) the fastest on the server, we still managed to clear Molten Core and Blackwing Lair.  We got to peek at C'Thun in Ahn'Qiraj, and checked out several bosses in Naxxramas.

Post TBC, we have made great progress through Karazhan, where we now regularly clear the entire instance with two teams every week.  Gruul drops his epics at the door every time we visit.  Our current focus is Magtheridon who will almost certainly die at our hands very soon.

A lot of our members have met, too.  We had an official Guild Meeting in September 06, where nearly 40 guild members descended on a poor and unsuspecting hotel in London for a weekend of talking about DPS, healing strategy and roster rotations. Hang on, who am I trying to fool??  We got blindingly drunk and raced around London having a good time ;).

Our next official guild meeting is in August in Copenhagen.  I'm hoping that we will be able to get lots of us together to have a great time, in "The Garrison Way".

I've played online games for over 13 years now, and I can truly say that The Garrison is the best online community that I have ever had the extraordinary pleasure of being associated with.  We are truly a Pan-European guild who tries (and in most cases succeeds) to cater for every single member.  I have made several close friends, and met even more people who share my outlook on life.  Quite simply, I'm honoured to be a part of The Garrison.

Pharazon, Captain, The Garrison.

Teamspeak Server Moving!
Thursday, 16 February 2006 10:26

The new server is already available on chat.theoldgarrison.org.uk:8789.

I have moved the server over to a professional Teamspeak hosting service, which should be able to deal with our capacity requirements and assure an excellent uptime. I will also shortly be increasing the user limit to 100 players.

On Monday I will be removing the DNS entries for the old Teamspeak server, and the backup Teamspeak server.

Please can you all update your Teamspeak clients to connect to the new server.  Unfortunately, those of you who are registered with the server will need to re-register.

Thanks for your patience

Going the Distance
Written by Spooks

So one day I hear from a level 1 Gnome Rogue called Reggy. Reggy turns out to be none other than Stufur, the Gnome Mage with a notorious fascination with 'lolpoints.' Right there and then he laid out his mission... to explore the known reaches of Azeroth, without going past level 1. This is, of course, insane, and until recently fairly impossible because exploration XP would get you to at least level 10. However, with the advent of 'locked xp' this is now possible. So over the next weeks we would get updates from Reggy, as he walked a path of death through the lands, telling us which new places he had visited on his bizarre quest. Then at last the day arrived, he had explored all places accessable by foot, and so required the help of some friends to summon him to the flying only parts. With the aid of Blinky, Dufva and myself, he explored the last spots on the map and dinged his impressive achievement.

Well done you crazy Noam!!!

Reggy
